It was downright hilarious and relatable nearly all of the time. I think that was pretty much the highlight of this entire book. Specifically Iris’ and Claudia’s friendship. Her family might have had a few issues, but at least they all had one another’s backs. I enjoyed how Claudia’s family played a big part in Foolish Hearts because I feel like many novels rarely pay attention to the character’s families. Instead, it was how it contained serious family and friend issues. My favourite part about Foolish Hearts was not the characters or the romance. I feel as if they would just be better off as close friends. I also didn’t really see the chemistry between Claudia and Gideon, and I have a good feeling that their relationship will never make it past high school. Personally, I do not enjoy it when it takes the characters nearly the entire book to finally admit they like one another. He would eat soggy cereal, say weird things about cups, and much more.Įmma Mills managed to create a sweet and slow romance between Gideon and Claudia that kind of drove me insane. There was really nothing normal about him. Instead, he created a whole new type of boy. Gideon, on the other hand, was far from the typical love interest. However, I did enjoy how Claudia was very loyal to her friends and wanted them all happy.

While she might have been kind and never let anyone take advantage of her, there are many other characters in novels just like her. In all honesty, there was nothing special about her. I laughed at all the right moments and rooted for a good handful of the characters.įoolish Hearts followed Claudia, who was a typical character. I have found that I do not enjoy the characters or the romance in them, but Foolish Hearts was a light and sweet read that I managed to read in a single sitting. As Claudia’s world starts to expand, she finds that maybe there are some things worth sticking her neck out for.Īdmittedly, I am not one to read contemporary novels too often. Now on the wrong side of one of the meanest girls in school, Claudia doesn’t know what to expect when the two are paired up to write a paper-let alone when they’re both forced to try out for the school production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.īut mandatory participation has its upsides-namely, an unexpected friendship, a boy band obsession, and a guy with the best dimpled smile Claudia’s ever seen. The day of the last party of the summer, Claudia overhears a conversation she wasn’t supposed to.
